Men's Sandals

What are “vegan” men’s sandals?

Vegan men’s sandals are simply sandals that only use materials (including dyes and adhesives) that are not derived from, or tested on animals, and are thusly considered ‘cruelty-free’ and 'vegan'. They can come in a variety of colours and styles, and can be made from different natural and synthetic materials.

What materials are used to make vegan men’s sandals?

Vegan sandals can be made from any combination of natural and synthetic cruelty-free materials and fibres, including:

What styles for men’s sandals are there?

Men’s vegan sandals come in many different styles, the most common of which include:

Why buy sandals that are vegan?

Why harm something that you don’t have to? All styles and colours of sandals can be made without the use of animal materials, by-products and testing. They can pull off the same, look, feel and function as their leather and suede based counterparts.

Does buying one pair of vegan sandals really make a difference?

Yes, and it’s a simple yet effective form of animal activism! Here’s how it works: When you buy a pair of cruelty-free and vegan sandals, you’re telling the store that if they stock these items, they will be rewarded with a sale. But selling sandals means they need to re-stock and order more, which means they have to tell the manufacturer to keep making them. This means the manufacturer and retailer are putting money and effort into vegan-friendly and cruelty-free products, not leather-based ones. Buying vegan is supporting vegan.

Are men’s vegan sandals expensive?

Similar to their non-vegan counterparts, the cost to make vegan and cruelty-free sandals can vary quite a bit from one company and one pair to the next, due to differences in materials used and production methods employed. As a result, their retail prices will vary quite a bit; some pairs are quite affordable, whereas others would be considered luxury items; most fall somewhere in between.

Should I get rid of non-vegan sandals that I already own?

This is a controversial topic within the vegan community. In our opinion, it’s up to you to decide when and how to start turning your wardrobe over. If you can’t even look at your leather flip flops after you turn vegan, then give them away or sell them. Alternatively, if you want to keep wearing them until they've outlived their usefulness due to the expense or inconvenience of replacing them, simply replace them with a vegan pair of flip flops when the time is right. Whatever you do, try to avoid simply throwing them away. Whatever choice you make, it’s ultimately yours.

What companies make vegan sandals for men?

There are 2 types of companies that make men’s vegan sandals and other forms of open style shoes; companies that primarily make their sandals using animal derived materials, by-products and testing, but choose to include vegan items to broaden their marketing reach, or for other reasons. Then, there are companies that exclusively make vegan and cruelty free sandals (and possibly other goods), for ethical, sustainability, business or other possible reasons. Some companies whose flip flops, sliders, strapped and woven sandals are completely vegan include:

Companies that feature fully vegan lines of sandals include:

How do you choose which companies to list?

We keep a list of shoe companies that we find by way of social media, word of mouth, by old-fashioned Google searches and by other methods, whose entire catalogue, or specific models, of men’s sandals seems to be vegan. We contact these companies to check that they don’t use any animal-derived materials or testing in the making of these products. If we’re convinced the items are suitable for vegans, and they’re listed on Amazon, then we display them here for your shopping convenience!

Do you list vegan sandals from non-vegan companies?

Yes. We think it’s great that more and more non-vegan companies are adding cruelty-free dress shoes and other items to their catalogue, whatever the reasoning behind it might be. If we contact a company, and multiple company representatives assure us that certain (or all) products are vegan and cruelty-free, and they provide us with clear and consistent answers (and they’re listed on Amazon), then we’ll list them here for you.
