Is Vyom London an ethically vegan brand?
Vyom London is an intentionally and ethically vegan brand, rather than one that uses vegan materials out of convenience, or for other reasons. According to the brand, "Our obligation is to serve both mankind and wildlife equally."What materials are used to make their shoes?
Vyom London wither uses cotton-backed PU or Vegea grape-based leather for their uppers, and Vibram rubber for their soles & heels. Within each shoe's description on their website, it will give a vague breakdown of the materials used to make that shoe. Are Vyom London shoes eco-friendly/sustainable?
From an environmentally-friendly materials standpoint, Vyom London's PU shoes wouldn't be considered overly eco-friendly, as they don't use many natural or recycled materials (that they've let us know about, anyways). And while virgin man-made synthetics are generally considered worse for the environment than recycled synthetics, or natural materials, they are generally considered to be more environmentally friendly than animal-derived leathers. This is backed up by data from inside the fashion industry as well as outside of it. For the data, please see Collective Fashion Justice’s CIRCUMFAUNA initiative. Their models that use grape leather would be considered more sustainable, as they make use of organic waste, and use less virgin plastic than their counterparts using traditional PU.Does production of their shoes create a lot of harmful emissions?
From a carbon footprint standpoint, it's difficult to asses the impact that Vyom London has, and what they do to remediate it. The brand does not currently provide data as to their environmental impact or remediation efforts, so it's difficult to accurately asses them in these areas.Does Vyom London use ‘green’ shipping methods?
